Definition of terms
For the purposes of this document, “Makermouse” and “we” applies to any individual and/or entity directly involved in the general operation of this site, including but not limited to site administrators, writers, hosting providers, designers, and Web programmers.
“Readers” or “users” refers to any person and/or entity that views makermouse.com and/or any documents hosted on Makermouse.com (e.g. webpages, images, videos, RSS feeds).
“Personal information” or “personally identifiable information” refers to information that can be used to reveal your identity reasonably easily. This includes—but is not limited to—names, addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, employers, job titles, the name of your first-born, and so on.
Every device that connects to the Internet—be it your computer, your smartphone, your refrigerator, whatever—transmits an IP address. That’s a fundamental part of how the Internet works. Makermouse’s servers, which are owned by WebHostingBuzz, may record these IP addresses. These IP addresses are used for internal site-administration purposes (e.g. website metrics), and we do not share them unless we are required to do so by law.
Makermouse may employ cookies for various reasons—for example, to store your login information or site preferences, or for internal website metrics purposes. Any information collected is for internal site-administration purposes as outlined above.
We do not currently use tracking cookies for the purposes of collecting information to sell to advertisers as we do not currently have ads on the site.
While we may publicly share general statistics gleaned from information that may be collected via cookies (for example, the percentage of users that visit us using a particular web browser), we do not share any personally identifiable information unless we are required to do so by law.
Information collected includes—but is not limited to—Web browsers, operating systems, and screen resolutions that our readers use. We may also track other details, such as the pages that users visit on this site and how far down a page you might scroll before you leave that page, among other things. AwStats may track data related to the IP addresses logged by our hosting provider’s servers, as outlined in the IP addresses section above.
We use this information for a variety of things—to see whether our readership is growing, to see which articles are most popular, to help us make decisions regarding the design and content of the site, and so on.
To our knowledge, the metrics systems we employ do not collect personally identifiable information such as your name, your email address, your favorite color, and so on. Please note, however, that Google Analytics utilizes a cookie stored by your Web browser to collect metrics information.
Metrics information collected may be stored by our third-party metrics providers, such as Google Analytics. If you would like to opt out of Google Analytics, download and install this browser add-on. Please see the Google Analytics Terms of Service for more information.
Except as noted above, while we may publicly share general statistics based on the information collected, we do not share any information about particular users unless we are required to do so by law.
Makermouse is not intended for readers under 13 years of age.
We make every effort to ensure this document is as exhaustive and as complete as possible, however, we may need to update this page to correct inadvertent omissions or errors, or to add more details as needed. This document may change without warning. However, if we see fit, we may notify users of major changes and solicit comments from readers before any changes go into effect.
If you would like any clarification about any of the terms outlined in this document, feel free to email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
